Cove Cottage is perched on a hill overlooking Cove Beach, Oregon. Located between Cannon Beach and Manzanita, the house is surrounded by old growth forests of Oswald West State Park. Parts of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Sanctuary are visible from the living room. Enjoy the sound of the ocean and watch shooting stars at night in the Marquis 3-person hot tub

Cove Beach is one of the least known beaches on the Northern Oregon Coast. During low tide, a vast sand beach is exposed at Cove Beach. Because most people don't watch the tide tables, it is common to have the entire 2-mile beach to yourself -- a rare treat not only for Oregon, but for most of the world

During high tide, there is not much sand exposed, but you can drive one mile to Arch Cape Beach where there is always sand. Or, within 7 miles you can visit Manzanita Beach (7 miles long), Hug Point Beach, Arcadia Beach or Cannon Beach -- each of which offer miles of scenic sandy beach.

Cove Cottage was recently completely remodeled. The 1500 square foot home features a panoramic ocean view, a large great room, 3 bedrooms, an upstairs/loft with spiral staircase, all new appliances, gorgeous wood floors, and an 1100 square foot deck made from sustainably harvested Red Balau Mahogany.

Built in 1969, this was one of the first houses on Cove Beach, Oregon. The unique gambrel design requires no interior walls or support posts for structural support. The giant connector beams are 24 feet long. The wood floor in the great room is made from reclaimed bleacher boards from an old school gymnasium. The wood is clear, vertical-grained Douglas fir of a quality no longer available and there are no knots in the entire floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How far to the beach?

Beach access is 500 feet from our house - a 2 minute walk. Before reaching the sand, there is a slope with softball-sized rocks that you need to walk over, which requires a bit of balance.

Q: Are there tide pools near the house?

Yes, Cove Beach has fabulous tide pools, mostly at the North and South ends of the beach. They are only accessible during low tide.

Q: Does the beach have sand?

Cove Beach has a wide expanse of sand during low tide but there may be very little dry sand during high tide.

Q: Are there other beaches nearby?

Yes, the area is full of spectacular beaches. Arch Cape Beach is the next closest beach and it is a one-mile drive away. Be sure to make the scenic drive to Manzanita Beach where you can enjoy a 7 mile long beach and sand dunes. To the North, visit Hug Point Beach, Arcadia Beach or Cannon Beach -- each of which offer miles of scenic sandy beach.

Q: Can I reach the beach by wheelchair?

No, Cove Beach is not wheelchair accessible, but Cannon Beach and Manzanita Beach have ramps leading down to the sand.

Q: Is the house wheelchair accessible?

No, however once you get on the deck, which is two steps up, there are no other steps on the main level of the house. The master shower has a sitting bench. Doorways are small. Please inquire if you want more specific information.

Q: Is there a coffee maker?

Yes, we supply a coffee maker and a small coffee grinder.

Q: What kitchen supplies can we expect?

The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, coffee maker, blender, mixer, toaster, tea pot, dishes, silverware, glasses, cutting knives, baking pans, mixing bowls, and most other basic kitchen utensils. We do not promise any food will be on hand but there is usually salt, pepper, and some spices.

Q: Home much parking is available?

Our parking area only comfortably holds two cars. Some guests have been able to fit three, but they will not be conveniently accessible. There is no street parking nearby and if the street is obstructed by your vehicle, you might be ticketed because firetrucks must be able to pass by.

Q: Is the house in the tsunami zone?

Cove Cottage is located outside of the tsunami inundation zone according to the State of Oregon Tsunami Regulatory map. If you suspect an earthquake, please turn on the emergency radio (located in the master bathroom) and locate the NOAA emergency channel. The radio has a hand crank and does not require batteries.
